The BETTER Life Summer School 2024 has come to a successful close after an inspiring week of learning, fieldwork, and collaboration. Starting with two days of interactive lectures and roundtable discussions at CZU in Prague, where participants were introduced to the key principles of Socially Engaged Research (SER), we followed by immersive three-day excursions to national parks, where participants applied these principles to real-world environmental challenges 📚 🏞️.
After days of intense fieldwork and stakeholder engagement, both groups reunited in the town of Kostelec nad Černými Lesy. Here, participants presented their initial observations and insights from their case studies, shared feedback, and celebrated their achievements during a memorable farewell dinner. The week concluded with the certification of participation, marking the successful completion of this enriching program 🍽️🎓.
The BETTER Life Summer School provided a unique opportunity to engage with pressing environmental issues, work alongside local communities, and develop skills for conducting impactful, socially engaged research in life sciences.
